Reports of Ministry of Interior on Success in Fight against Crime
In 2014, in Azerbaijan were recorded 24,607 crimes, Interior Minister Ramil Usubov said on January 27 at the meeting of the board on the results of 2014.
Of the total number of crimes 22,297 facts (86%) were crimes that pose no serious danger to society. At the same time, 14% were serious or very serious crimes.
In 2014, 845 criminal gangs which committed grave and especially grave crimes were rendered harmless. The specified groups, which were composed of 2,212 people, committed 1,893 crimes, including 638 serious and very serious crimes.
The Minister also announced the prosecution of 167 people for illegal possession and carrying of firearms.
The number of crimes committed with firearms remained stable, he said.
Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized counterfeit notes in the amount of 117,000 manat, 35 000 dollars and 307 500 rubles.
As part of the activities carried out in accordance with the national plan against human trafficking, 9 criminal gangs were neutralized, including 19 people.
In connection with drugs 58 criminal groups consisting of 150 people were rendered harmless.
In connection with drugs, last year there were revealed 3,046 crimes, including 801 facts of drug sale. Withdrawn from illegal circulation was 673 kg of drugs, which is 9% more than in 2013.
The overall detection of crime in the country amounted to 80.7%.
