Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations again visit the deceived inhabitants of the Sabirabad region flooded by Kura
Approximately 100 residents of Sabirabad region indignant with unfair compensation for flood-affected farms in 2010, came on Friday to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Disgruntled villagers of Askerbeyli, Gasymbeyli, Azadkend and others have expressed
dissatisfaction with negligence of the authorities to them within two years. Thus, homes have been built for some local residents, but they are not suitable for living in winter. Roads, hospitals, schools, water supply have not been restored.
People are in need of bus transportation, and kindergartens. Farmers need
agricultural machinery, planting materials, fertilizers, credit, etc. But most of all, they
want the issue of fair compensation.
According to Siyavush Aflatunov, a resident of the village of Askerbeyli, they were listened in the reception of the Ministry, and were promised that everything will be investigated. "However, we do not believe their promises. Last time, they also listened to us, and the next day, a local human rights activist Ilham Amiraslanov was arrested.
According to the government's decision, they were to give us 200 manat lump compensation for the lost livestock, and contamination of home gardens. The government generally provided more than 350 million manat. With these funds all problems could be resolved, but it did not happen, said Aflatun.
Only 1,000 homes, of 3,500 homes which were to be built, were put into operation with some shortcomings. Farmland in the new homes is only six acres. In addition, there is not heating in their homes, gas, sanitary facilities, and water supply. Houses were built of materials of low quality with the use of cheap labor.
The construction cost was increased by four times. The funds are allocated according to the decision of officials, the interests of people are not taken into account," said a rural activist.
From the Ministry, the residents of Sabirabad went to the Presidential Administration.
People say that appeals to the authorities, which have been lasting for two years, the indifference of authorities killed their faith in justice. They hope on the international community and international human rights courts. -17D-
