Resident of Fizuli region complains of police arbitrariness

Choban Adigezalov, a resident of Fizuli region told at the press conference in Media Center about the injustice faced by his 25-year-old son, Benjamin, a farmer.

On January 26 this year, Benjamin Adigezalov committed an act of self-immolation, but he survived, having suffered serious injuries. The reason for such a desperate step was the arbitrariness of the local police chief. Thus, according to the complainant, the police Chief Rahim Mirzoyev took away from the farmer

Most part of onion crop, which Benjamin grew on its own site of 35 hectares.

Benjamin was not paid money for his products, and police threatened him not to complain.  Farmer’s demands to pay for the products have been ignored.

The farmer tried to obtain an appointment with the chief executive of the region, but he was not allowed.  Desperate young man poured a gasoline on him, and burned, but was saved.

After a suicide attempt, a lawsuit was filed, but an objective investigation followed, according to the farmer’s father.

Choban Adigezalov appealed to the Attorney General because of biased investigation on the spot, but there is no answer.

Farmer's father appealed through the press to President Ilham Aliyev, calling him to put an end to arbitrariness of local officials, to ensure a fair investigation of the case, and punish the perpetrators.

Turan failed to get comments in the Fizuli regional police. -05C04-
