Responsibility for the demolition of the mosque laid on Ibrahim Mehdiyev
Baku /01.07.17/Turan: On Saturday the Azerbaijani President IlhamAliyev signed an order to fire Ibrahim Mehdiyev from the post of the head of the Executive Power of Yasamal district. The reasons for the dismissal of Mehdiyev from the post of the head of the district administration are not indicated, and simply refers to part 2 of the Article 124 of the Constitution, according to which the president appoints and dismisses the heads of local executive bodies. The reasons for the dismissal of Mehdiyev were clarified by Ali Hasanov, the presidential aide on public and political issues. In an interview with AZERTAJ,Hasanov stated that Mehdiyev was punished for the decision to demolish the mosque Haji Javad located in Baku on the former Sovetskaya street.
Hasanov recalled that In April the President Aliyev instructed not to demolish this mosque until a new church be built for the believers. A place was determined for the erection of a new mosque near the Yasamal cemetery, and construction work has already begun."Some officials, contrary to the order of the head of state, arbitrarily decided to demolish the mosque of Haji Javad before the completion of the construction of the new building of the mosque. After President IlhamAliyev was informed about the demolition of the mosque, the head of state immediately ordered to severely punish the guilty,"Hasanov said.
According to him, the chief culprit of this process was the ex-head of the district executive power Ibrahim Mehdiyev, and he was fired from his post. There were many reasons to punish Mehdiyev earlier, when bulldozers crashed houses on Sovetskaya, while residents who did not agree with the size of compensation had not yet left them; or when the video was posted on the Internet on howMehdiyev was rude to the journalist who asked him questions just about the fate of the Haji JavadMosque, and pushed the journalist away.-06D-
