The famous Croatian footballer Robert Prosinecki has been appointed as the new coach of Azerbaijani football team. This decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan.
The contract with Prosinecki has been concluded until the end of the qualifying round of the World Cup 2018.
Prosinecki replaced German Berti Vogts, who resigned.
The Azerbaijani team along with teams of Italy, Croatia, Bulgaria, Norway and Malta stands in group F and in last place after four games, scored no points.
Under the leadership of Prosinecki the first official match of the team will be with the team of Malta on March 28, 2015.
Prosinecki played for the national team of the former Yugoslavia and Croatia, as part of the latter won the bronze medal of the world championship in 1998.
In addition to the clubs of the former Yugoslavia, he also played for Real, Barcelona and others. -06D-
