Rufat Safarov, former investigator of regional prosecutor's office of the region of Zardab was placed for seven days to punishment cell in jail N 9, where he is serving his term, Turan was told by his lawyer Behruz Bayramov. He believes that the pressure is put on his client.
"The pressure on Rufat Safarov started after the Court of Appeal. First, to put him in jail with recidivist, who spent 25 years in prison, who behaved inappropriately and aggressively towards Rufat. After the transfer to jail N9 with him placed mentally ill person who did not let Safarov to sleep. When Rufat said about it to the commander in prison, the man insulted him. After this, Rufat wrote a complaint to the management of the jail who insulted him. The result was that two days ago Rufat was imprisoned in solitary confinement for seven days for alleged violation of discipline," said Bayramov. He considers the decision illegal.
The lawyer with his father Safarov and head of the Public Committee for the protection of his rights Matlab Mutallimli are seeking a meeting with the head of the jail in order to eliminate lawlessness against a former investigator.
*Rufat Safarov was sentenced in September 2016 to 9 years in prison on charges of taking bribes, and previously he was fired from the prosecutor's office for "misconduct." On 22 December the Court of Appeal upheld the verdict against Safarov.
