Rufat Safarovs Complaint about Torture Not Satisfied
Baku / 26.10.17 / Turan: The Khatai district prosecutor"s office did not satisfy the complaint of the former investigator Rufat Safarov, who is kept in Prison No. 9. Turan was told about this by his father Eldar Sabiroglu.
According to him, the Khatai prosecutor"s office carried out investigations based on a complaint submitted by Safarov"s lawyer Bahruz Bayramov. However, the prosecutor"s office refused to open a criminal case.
Moreover, to the decision of the prosecutor"s office, a characteristic from Prison No. 9 is attached, in which Safarov is presented as a person "violating the normal activities of the institution, blackmailing its employees, opposing the statehood, leading opposition propaganda, seeking to influence the weak-willed, and inclined to inflict bodily injury to himself and others."
Sabiroglu believes such characteristics are usually given to particularly dangerous criminals and recidivists.
"Anything can happen to Rufat. Rufat is neither crazy nor insane. It follows from the characteristic that serious threats expect him "and for this, the ground is being prepared," Sabiroglu believes.
* R. Safarov was an investigator of the Zardab district prosecutor"s office. On December 20, 2015, he made a statement on lawlessness in law enforcement and resigned.
In late December of the same year, a criminal case was launched against Safarov on charges of taking bribes. In September 2016, the Lankaran Court for Grave Crimes sentenced Safarov to 9 years of imprisonment.
Rufat Safarov is the son of a former MP from the ruling New Azerbaijan Party and the former head of the Defense Ministry"s press service, Eldar Sabiroglu. -05B06-
