Seven People Killed in Azerbaijani AN-12 Plane Crash in Afghanistan (updated)
A freight plane of Azerbaijan's Silk Way airline crashed on Wednesday in Afghanistan, killing seven of its nine crew members, Azerbaijan's civil aviation administration said (Reuters).
It said the plane had crashed after taking off from Dwyer airport in Afghanistan. The crew were from Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
The Azerbaijani authorities have not yet made an official statement on the matter. Meanwhile, social networking sites have already named five citizens of Azerbaijan. -02D-

A cargo plane AN-12 of Azerbaijani Silk Way Airlines crashed in Afghanistan. According to unspecified data, this happened to a cargo aircraft AN-12 in the Helmand province. It was leased from the Silk Way Company to carry cargo inside Afghanistan, said the State Administration of Azerbaijan's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on May 18.
According to official information, approximately at 18.30 Baku time a report came that the plane that departed from the airport Dwyer in Afghanistan's Helmand province crashed.
The plane was ruled by an international crew, including a citizen of Uzbekistan (captain), three citizens of Ukraine and five citizens of Azerbaijan.
The fate of the crew members was not reported.
A commission has been set up to investigate the incident. "Now there is a process of negotiation with the airline authorities of Afghanistan to let representatives of commission visit the scene to investigate the cause of the incident on May 19," CAA reported.
Recall that another cargo plane of Silk Way crashed in Afghanistan on July 6, 2011 and all the nine crew members were killed. -06D--
