Sheikh Pashazadeh participates in the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Catholicos of Georgia
The Caucasus Muslims Office Chief Sheikh Pashazadeh arrived on January 4 in Tbilisi to participate in the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II. During the visit, he also met with the Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.
* Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II, Archbishop (the real name is Irakli G. Gudushauri-Shiolashvili) was born on January 4, 1933 in Vladikavkaz. On December 23, 1977 he was elected Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia. During the ministry of Ilia II the number of churches and monasteries has increased. 35 years ago in Georgia, there were 48 temples in operation, now there are about 1,000.
