A fight broke out between two prisoners in Baku prison N 1 Kurdakhani on Sunday. They are accused of serious crimes. The incident ended with stabbing.
According to informed sources, the conflict took place on the grounds of showdown between powerful criminal gangs. The first group is lead by the imprisoned Mushvig Salifov, nicknamed "Lotu Guli", and Rovshan Caniyev, who is not in prison, and is known in the criminal world as Rovshan Lankaran.
The conflicts is because "Lotu Guli" wants to regain status as a "thief-in-law", of which he was deprived a few years ago after an incident with another crime boss (the late Hikmet Mukhtarov - Hikmet Sabirabad).
According to the same sources, Rovshan Lankaran actively opposes restoring of "Lotu Guli" in the status "thief in law".
As for Sunday's incident, it could be triggered by one of the prisoners, Emin Mamedov. His goal is to increase the authority of his patron - "Lotu Gulu."
The fight took place in the yard of prison, where Mamedov "accidentally" saw
another prisoner by the name Tural. First Mammadov hit Tural, and then, attacked and stabbed in the chest and thigh. In this case, an employee of the colony was stabbed in the arm, unscrambling the fighters.
However, the prison service refuted information about stabbing in prison in Kurdakhani. The Department of Public Relations, being asked to comment on the information, stated that "there was no such incident."
Both of the above prisoners are accused of serious crimes. Tural is charged with murder during the criminal showdown last year at the gas station in Baku.
Mammadov is also accused of murder, extortion, etc.
It is noteworthy that Mammadov was a defendant in a criminal case on the fact of a criminal fight in 2005 at the "Wolf's Gate" with a deadly weapon.
Despite the fact that many participants were brought to justice, Mamedov escaped. However, in August of this year, Mamedov unexpectedly returned and acknowledged his guilt, and currently the case is being considered in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.
A month ago Salifov’s lawyers held a press conference and complained of a violation of rights when visiting jail N8. The lawyers also said that their client is not allowed to meet with his own daughter.
Salifov is known by the fact that at the time refused to comply with an order of
influential persons, and undertake the murder of journalist Elmar Huseynov. After that,
in jail Salifov was accused of raping his girlfriend, and was sentenced to a new term.—06D-
