Since 2001 new housing provided to 140,000 displaced
Yesterday in the village Masazir, President Ilham Aliyev opened new quarters built for the displaced.
In high-rise buildings will be relocated 760 families or 3,420 IDPs temporarily placed in the campus of the State Oil Academy. 460 families are from Zangilan, 66 - from Agdam, 52 - from Jabrail, 40 - from Fizuli, and 142 - from Kalbajar, Lachin, Gubadly, Shusha, Khojaly and Khojavand regions.
This is the 78th settlement built for refugees from the occupied territories.
According to the State Committee for Refugees, in the years 2001-2012 for up to 31 thousand families, or more than 140 thousands of refugees and internally displaced persons there were built 77 settlements and neighborhoods, consisting of high-rise buildings or private homes. These projects are funded mainly from the State Oil Fund.
In 2013, 300 million manats will be spent from the State Oil Fund on 4 000 families (20,000 people) to build another 8 villages and neighborhoods. -06D -

On January 29, municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan, with over 16,000 candidates participating across 118 constituencies. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has already announced the names of the leading candidates on its website. Hours after the election, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov stated at a briefing that 413 out of 685 municipalities had already been formed, with 7,791 candidates identified as leaders. According to him, elections proceeded normally in all constituencies, and no complaints were received by his office. However, independent candidates and experts claim that there were violations during the election process.
