SOCAR President Re-elected President of AFFA
On March 11, Baku hosted a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), and elected a new leadership.
In particular, President Rovnag Abdullayev was unanimously reelected for the third term. The composition of the Executive Committee was also elected: Rauf Aliyev, Gurban Gurbanov, Elshad Nasirov, Vagif Sadikhov, Iskandar Javadov, Kazbek Tuaev, Mahir Mammadov, Mirkamil Rahimov, Elmar Mammadyarov and Firudin Gurbanov.
Only half of the members of the executive committee in the past were soccer players.
It is noteworthy that the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mammadyarov was elected to the executive committee as a representative of the public association All-Azerbaijan Football Lovers.
Mammadyarov said he was connected to football matters at the request of Rovnag Abdullayev.
"It is too early to talk about my plans in football, but they will exist. Rovnag Abdullayev has offered to raise the authority of the national football with the assistance of the Foreign Ministry. I am, of course, for it. I love football. I try to go to Premier League matches. I am a lover of all Azerbaijani football. I think the problems with combining work will not occur," Mammadyarov was quoted by www.azerisport.com. -06D--
