SOFAZ Discusses Correctional Program EITI
The State Oil Fund (SOFAZ) held a meeting of the Multilateral Group on the use of Extractıve Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Azerbaijan.
According to the SOFAZ, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the World Bank.
Issues of technical assistance from the World Bank for the availability of government agencies’ reports were discussed.
The meeting discussed the EITI report for 2015, the Action Plan of the EITI International Board on correctional activities in Azerbaijan and others.
In addition, they discussed the status of the work plan for 2016, the definition of the work plan for 2017, the priorities, how to obtain, publish and re-execute the EITI data.
Recall that in October 2016 the international EITI Board granted Azerbaijan time till March 2017 to improve the working conditions of civil society, without which the full membership of Azerbaijan in this organization will not be restored.
The status of Azerbaijan was demoted to candidate country a year ago due to the repression against NGOs and suppressing the rights and freedoms of civil society. -05D06--
