Sumgayit NGO is preparing for the election monitoring
Public Association "Legal Education of Sumgayit Youth" intends to carry out the monitoring of the parliamentary elections on 1 November. According to the head of the organization Elchin Mammadov, the monitoring mission will be carried out with the support of the Council of Europe and the International Association for the Protection of Human Rights. Taking into account the fact that the elections will not be monitored by the ODIHR, a great responsibility falls on local institutions of civil society. The purpose of the project is to increase public control over elections, their conduct in accordance with democratic standards.
The project provides the conducting trainings for observers in regions of the country, and to prepare memos and instructions for them. The monitoring will cover 450 polling stations in 21 electoral districts. Support for the project will provide the Ukrainian Center for Political Education and the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology. -06D-
