Sumgayit Vehicles Denied Entry to Baku, Offering Their Owners to Travel by Train Instead
On Saturday with the participation of Ilham Aliyev the ceremony of launching the reconstruction of trains on the route Baku-Sumgait was held.
The movement of trains is performed on the route Baku-Bilajari-Khirdalan-Guzdek-Sumgayit. The travel time is 40 minutes.
On September 13-14 two trains ply between Baku and Sumgait. From September 15, eight trains will run, three of which are double-decker KISS (the Swiss company Stadler Rail Group), while the remaining five are reconstructed old trains produced in Latvia.
From 6:00 to 12:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00 trains will depart every 30 minutes, from 12:00 to 16:00 - an hour.
The capacity of each electric train brand KISS consisting of four cars is 919 passengers and the number of seats is 396. The double-decker trains also have 84 business class seats.
All cars are equipped with free Internet access and luggage space.
In the carriages of business class passengers will be offered tea and coffee, the cost of which is included in the ticket.
Ticket prices have not yet been determined. It is expected that the decision will be made today. In the meantime, trains carry passengers free of charge. Payment will be also available by the cards Baki-kart. Tickets can be purchased through payment terminals.
If the launch of high-speed trains was good news for Sumgayit people, the closure of the entrance to Baku from September 15 for vehicles with Sumgait numbers certainly upset them. -06D--

Although a ceasefire declaration was signed between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan has yet to be signed, even four years later.
