Term of the journalist"s arrest is extended for three months
Today Sabail District Court , under the chairmanship of Nuraddin Bagirov, considered the application of the employees of "Bizim Yol" newspaper, the director of the site moderator.az, Parviz Hashimli, on illegality of searches in the editorial offices without court sanction.
The complaint of the journalist was not satisfied. Moreover, the court raised the question on the extension of the journalist's arrest for another three months. The court granted the petition of the investigation. An employee of the "Bizim Yol" newspaper, the head of the Moderator.az site, the head of the Centre and the Protection of Civil and Political Freedoms, a member of the Supreme Majlis of the PPFA, Parviz Hashimli, was arrested on September 17. He was charged under the Articles 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code (smuggling of weapons and ammunition by prior agreement), and 228.2.1 (illegal possession of firearms and ammunition by prior agreement.) Hashimli denies the charges and says that he is being persecuted for political motives. -06D-
