The action near the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ankara
On Friday, representatives of the opposition youth Movement D18 held an action in Ankara at the Azerbaijani embassy, and inviting local journalists. According to the leader of the Movement Ruslan Izzatli, the embassy staff and guards tried to prevent and prohibit the event. However, an event dedicated to the fate of political prisoners, was not held.
Izzatli told the local press that Azerbaijan has about 100 political prisoners, most of which are young people - activists of political parties, public organizations, and journalists.
"These people have one fault - they have their own opinion about these or other events, for which they are prosecuted by authorities," he said, highlighting at the same time the journalist Khadija Ismailova. "On the day of her birth on May 27 protest rally will be held in 40 cities around the world, demanding her release. Our movement calls on the Turkish press and the political forces of the country to support democracy in Azerbaijan," Izzatli said, referring to protesters. -03B-
