Baku/22.02.23 TUran: Chairman of the Salyan District Organization of the Popular Front Party, Zamin Salaev, has been on a hunger strike for 15 days. He has already lost 8 kg., his lawyer Nemat Karimly told Turan. “Despite the hunger strike, Salaev was not transferred to the sanitary part of the pre-trial detention center, they did not provide medical care and forbid to communicate and meet with his family,” he said. The lawyer said that he would file a complaint with the court for discrimination against Salaev.
In turn, the penitentiary service stated that if Salaev has problems, then they could file an official complaint to the penitentiary service.
On February 8, the Garadag District Court of Baku arrested Zamin Salaev for three months. A criminal case has been instituted against him under the Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code (the use of weapons against the victim). He faces up to 5 years in prison. The Ministry of Internal Affairs claims that Salaev is suspected of applying stab wounds to a person.
However, Zamin Salaev said in court that he had not attacked anyone, but rather defended himself from the attack. “When I expected a taxi in Lockbatan, I was insulted by an unknown person with a knife. I realized that this was a provocation and tried to defend myself, then pushed the attacker, and left the scene. A few minutes later I was stopped by the police in civilian clothes who took me to the Garadag district police department, accompanied by 4 police vehicles,” he told the judges in the Baku Court of Appeal on February 20.
The PNFA is sure that Salaev is punished for sharp criticism of the authorities in social networks. --03B--
