The arrested youth activists file an appeal
Six young activists arrested administratively for participating in a protest on December 29 at Fountain Square in Baku appeal against their arrest on January 7. Complaints shall be examined within three days, Turan was told by the lawyer Nemat Kerimli protecting the interests of the prisoners. Today he visited the wards in the Binagadi prison.
According to the lawyer, the health of young people is satisfactory. However, before Samir Poladov had some problems with heart, and ambulance was called for him, twice. Moreover, the second time he was taken to City Clinical Center (former Semashko Hospital), and then brought back to the detention center .
The lawyer said that young people are still complain of bad food in the prison.
Previously the young people went on a hunger strike in protest against the ill-treatment and poor conditions in prison. One of them, Orhan Eyubzade, was handcuffed at night to a cold radiator, and before that he was beaten in the Sabail police.
The action of protest was held on December 29 in connection with the bureaucratic arbitrariness whch led a disabled Karabakh war veteran, Zaur Hasanov, to suicide. -06B-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
