The case against a group of officers of the former Ministry of National Security sent to court
On 21 December the Prosecutor General's Office sent to the Baku Military Court indictment on the case of a group of former high-ranking officers of the Ministry of National Security. According to the Prosecutor General's Office reports, the three generals - Subahir Gurbanov, Natavan Mirvatova, Teymur Guliyev, as well as senior officers: Fuzuli Aliyev, Zaur Mammadov, Natig Aliyev, Farhad Atayev, Anar Shiraliyev, Eshgin Aliyev, Elshad Azizov, are accused of committing serious crimes in an organized group in the period 2004 - 2015 years, using their official position. The talk is about illegal servant, extortion, blackmail businessmen and seizure of their property, unlawful entry into the home with a weapon and unlawful arrests. The investigation has received 162 testimonies of victims from whom were seized 18.5 million manats, valuables and other property. Investigation arrested the property of these persons to return to the victims. The total price of this property is estimated at AZN 21.5 million. President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
