The Committee to Protect Civil Society (CPCS) is concerned about the situation in prisons
On Friday, a regular meeting of the Committee to Protect Civil Society (CPCS) addressed issues related to the situation in places of detention.
In particular, the committee drew attention to the suspicious death of Yadygyar Nuriyev, the only witness who died under torture penitentiaries №14 in December 2014, concluded Elshad Babayev. Yadygyar, according to official figures died from an overdose of drugs. Previously, he was under pressure to refuse testimony.
The concern was also expressed about the alarming signals coming from the Gobustan prison for life prisoners. It was decided to continue the practice of visiting prisoners, in particular, the following correctional institution was selected prison №13 in which the imprisoned are the well-known human rights defenders and journalists.

During the operation of the Main Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 5 members of an organized group engaged in drug trafficking were detained. All of them have previous convictions: Bahlul Ismayilov, Royal Aliyev, Khayal Aliyev, Samir Aghayev, and Ali Mammadli.
