The court leaves Rasul Jafarov in custody
The Nasimi district court in Baku did not granted the petition to change the measure of restraint of the human rights activist Rasul Jafarov, and his transference under house arrest. Protection intends to appeal this decision to the Court of Appeal. Coordinator of advocacy campaign "Art for Democracy", Jafarov, was arrested on 2 August. He was charged under Articles 192 of the Criminal Code (illegal business), 213 (tax evasion) and 308 (abuse of power). On October 23 deadline for his arrest was extended for another three months.
