The Court of Appeal left activist of "REAL" on custody
Sumgayit Court of Appeal rejected today a complaint against the arrest of Rahim Shaliev, the activist of "REAL" Movement. The lawyer Yalcin Imanov called the court's decision unreasonable and unfair, noting that the court did not grant a number of important applications of protection.
Shaliev was arrested on 20 February at the administrative order on charges of hooliganism and police supervision. According to the lawyer, even a cursory investigation leads to the conclusion that no Shaliev did not commit offense. The lawyer also pointed out that police officers testified against Shaliev and their testimony is contradictory.
On the other hand, the questions asked from Shaliev in the police office about his publications on Facebook and activities of "REAL" show that his arrest is a political order.
The testimonies of Lala Shalieva, a sister of the activist deny version of the police that her brother misbehaved in the street.
When he came home at noon, she saw police officers who appeared for her brother. In the minutes the police wrote that Shaliev was swearing loudly in the street near the store "Manas" at 12.40 and was arrested.
The lawyer believes that the arrest of Shaliev is a violation of basic freedoms. His torture in police office, and the refusal to provide application is a violation of fundamental rights of the young person. Therefore, the lawyer is already preparing a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights. -02D-
