The editor of "Azadlig" questioned in the prosecutor’s office
On February 21the editor of the newspaper "Azadliq" Rovshan Hajibeyli was questioned in the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes of the Prosecutor General. The questioning concerned the activity of the newspaper and its financing. On the same theme in recent days have been questioned practically all employees of the country's only opposition newspaper, which operates only now as a web site.
It is expected that in the coming days will be questioned a columnist Shahvalad Chobanoglu and other journalists, collaborating with this edition.
On 18 and 20 February were interrogated six employees of the newspaper: Ilham Hussein, Ayten Mamedovpa, Elchin Shirinov, Vidadi Mamedov, Khalid Garayev and Fizz Heydarov. They were interrogated about the activities of the newspaper and its financial status in the criminal proceedings against the CFO newspaper Faig Amirov, detained August 20, 2016.
Although he was charged with inciting religious hatred, the investigation has forgotten about it and decided to investigate the financing of newspapers and even initiated a tax audit. After the arrest of Amirov the issues of the newspaper was terminated because the bank refused to give money to other employees of the newspaper. -03B04-
