On February 21the editor of the newspaper "Azadliq" Rovshan Hajibeyli was questioned in the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes of the Prosecutor General. On 18 and 20 February were interrogated six employees of the newspaper: Ilham Hussein, Ayten Mamedovpa, Elchin Shirinov, Vidadi Mamedov, Khalid Garayev and Fizz Heydarov. They were interrogated about the activities of the newspaper and its financial status in the criminal proceedings against the CFO newspaper Faig Amirov, detained August 20, 2016.
Although he was charged with inciting religious hatred, the investigation has forgotten about it and decided to investigate the financing of newspapers and even initiated a tax audit. President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony.
