Baku/26.01.19/Turan: The chief editor of the website Realliq.info, kept in jail in the State Security Service (SSS), has been on an indefinite hunger strike since January 21.
His relatives told Turan that Ikram is on a hunger strike because of the accusations against him. Rahimov informed about it the leadership of the State Security Service.
Ikram Rahimov was detained on October 26, 2018 by the SSS officers, after which his arrest was authorized.
Before his arrest, Rahimov said that he was being persecuted for criticizing presidential assistant Ali Hasanov.
His arrest was made on charges of extortion by threats by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (182.2.1 and 1822.2). On December 20, the court extended the period of arrest for 2 months 28 days.
Ikram Rahimov in 2016 was sentenced to one year for libel, but was released ahead of time. Local human rights defenders recognized him as a political prisoner. -06B-
