Situation around Haji Javad Mosque
Baku / 13.04.17 / Turan: The situation around the Haji Javad mosque in the Yasamal district of Baku remains tense and uncertain. All last night, dozens of believers were on duty around this mosque, which the authorities intend to demolish in connection with the laying of a new road.
The night before, after many hours of negotiations and confrontation with the police, the authorities gave the police command to leave and not to disperse several hundred believers who said they would not allow the demolition of the mosque.
The believers are determined and most of them are young people. The authorities also do not intend to retreat, but they are still trying to avoid decisive steps. -02B-
