The investigation in the case of Jam.az Site editor completed
Completed preliminary investigation site Jam.az Fikret Faramazoglu editor, told Turan's lawyer Elchin Sadigov. The defendant's lawyer got acquainted with the case.
The lawyer noted that at the preliminary investigation in the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC) of the Interior Minister the journalist was tortured in order to give testimonies. He was interrogated by the employees Ibrahim Kazimov and Islam Agabayov, which complained about the defendants in the "case of Nardaran." Faramazoglu testified in the Prosecutor General's Office on the fact of torture.
The lawyer said that the court protection will insist on termination of the criminal prosecution of journalists for the justificatory grounds.
Faramazoglu was arrested on June 30, 2016 on charges of extortion by threats. According to the Interior Ministry, the journalist was detained at the time of receiving 3.000 manat bribes from a businessman.
Last week the charges against him were tightened - "extortion by threats of a group of persons, and similar acts again to seize the property."
On the first charge Faramazoglu faced up to five years in prison, but now -up to 10 years with confiscation of property. Faramazoglu is recognized by local human rights defenders as a political prisoner, although his site has a scandalous reputation. -06B-
