The investigation in the case of the murder of journalist Rasim Aliyev

Six people have been detained in the case of the murder of journalist Rasim Aliyev. They are charged, and arrested by the court decision, reads the joint statement the Interior Ministry and Prosecutor General's Office. According to the preliminary investigation, Javid Huseynov called Rasim Aliyev and demanded to publish a refutation on improper conduct during the football match between the clubs on August 6 "Gabala" and "Apollo" (Cyprus".) After that, Elshan Ismaylov, a cousin of Javid Huseynov also phoned the journalist and demanded refutation. On this basis there was a dispute between them.

As a result, Elshan Ismaylov decided to take revenge and gathered his friends: Jamal Mammadov, Arif Aliyev, Kenan Madatov,  and Samir Mustafayev  on August 8 at 16:00 Rasim Aliyev were summoned to a meeting in the village of  Bail,  where he was brutally beaten with hands and feet. Aliyev was taken to Baku Clinical Medical Center, where he underwent surgery, but died of injuries on 9 August at 05:00.  E.Ismaylov, S.Mustafayev, S.Mammadov, K.Madatovu and A.Aliyev faced charges under Articles 126.3 of the Criminal Code (causing grievous bodily injury resulting in death), they are arrested.

Investigators believe that Jeyhun Huseynov knew about the preparation of its relative heavy crime, but did not carry, and after having done conceal the incident. He was charged under Articles 307.1 and 307.2 of the Criminal Code (concealment and failure.) Investigative team is also developing a version of the crime at the instigation of Jeyhun Huseynov. President of Azerbaijan is regularly being informed about the course of investigation.–06D-
