The judge did not allow Khadija Ismailova to complete her speech
The judge of Baku Serious Crimes Court Ramella Allahverdiyeva did not allow the journalist Khadija Ismailova today to complete his final speech. According to the lawyer Fariz Namazly, in her speech Ismayilova focused attention on the political nature of the prosecution because of her journalistic investigations of corruption among top officials.
She also spoke about the falsification of the criminal case the prosecutor's office. The state prosecutor repeatedly tried to interrupt Ismayilova. The judge Allahverdiyeva also made several remarks to her and demanded to "speak on the merits."
Finally, when Ismayilova had five minutes to complete her speech, the judge interrupted her, and the court retired to deliberate.
The lawyer called the judge's actions "illegal." Court secretary later semi-officially announced that the verdict will be handed down by 1 or 2 of September. However, the judge should publicly announce it. -1606D-
