The lawyer appealed to the ombudswoman and the ICRC in connection with the disappearance of activist
The lawyer Yalcin Imanov failed to clarify the fate of a religious activist Ahsan Nuruzade, missing since 24 January. On 26 and 27 January the lawyer makes a request to the Interior Ministry, various management and police stations, detention centers, courts of Baku districts. However, there is no response. On 24 January Nuruzade went out to buy cigarettes, but never returned. Mother called "service 102" Ministry of Internal Affairs, where they were told to write a statement to the 22th branch of Nasimi district police. They did so, but still no results. Today the lawyer addressed to the Ombudswoman and the Baku office of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Imanov said that until Janhary 26 nobody answered calls to the mobile phone. The lawyer sent him messages on WhatsApp. It was evident that the messages are read, but there was no answer. On the evening of January 26 the phone was disconnected. The lawyer believes that Nuruzade is forced to make any confession.
Nuruzade is active supporter of the movement "Muslim unity" and its leader Thale Bagirzade. He attended the hearings in "Nardaran case" and disappeared on the eve of sentencing. It should be noted that on January 24 for 30 days was arrested another supporter Bagirzade - Rovshan Mammadov. For 30 days was arrested Sibili Tabriz, a religious activist, a resident of the village Mashtaga.
Observers believe that these arrests are aimed at isolating the most active supporters of Bagirzade to avoid organizing mass protests against the verdict in the "Nardaran case." On January 25, the court sentenced Thale Bagirzade and his deputy, Abbas Huseynov to 20 years in prison each. The remaining 16 defendants were sentenced from 10 to 19 years in prison. -06D--
