The police want to accuse the son of human rights activist (UPDATED)
Coordinator of the Public Alliance "Azerbaijan without political prisoners" Oktay Gyulalyev June 27 at 16.00 was called to the Main Police Office of Baku. The reasons for his call were not notified.
A few days ago Gyulalyev was also summoned to the police investigation into the incident under the pretext of stab wounds of his son on the eve of the presidential elections in 2013. During that period Gyulalyev was press secretary of the National Council’s candidate Jamil Hasanli.
According to colleagues of Gyulalyev, these calls to the police are related to his human rights activities. They believe that the activist is pressured to keep him from protecting the rights of political prisoners.
Thus, human rights activism has attracted international attention to the problem of political prisoners, which puts the power in a quandary.
Recall that Gyulalyev still has not been cleared of the absurd accusation of inciting unrest in Sabirabad extended by the local police two years ago. The reason for this was the invitation to Gyulalyev to participate in the protest of residents of the area affected by the floods.
Two weeks ago, police also detained another representative of the Alliance "Azerbaijan without political prisoners" Elshan Hasanov.
Oktay Gyulalyev came from the police at about 18:00. The human rights activist told Turan that the call was related to the criminal case in connection with the incident related to his son.
According to the police, Gyulalyev's son allegedly started the fight first and now, despite the fact that he was injured, criminal proceedings may be initiated against him.
Probably this way the police just puts pressure on the activist, to make him stop protecting the rights of political prisoners. -06D-

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
