The prosecution of journalist E.Hasanov toughened
The prosecution of opposition journalists and activists Elchin Hasanov was reclassified to a heavier Article. The day before he was charged with disorderly conduct, and today in the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs he was told that the charge was reclassified to the Article 221.3 (hooliganism with a weapon.) He can be imprisoned from three to seven years. Today, a preventive measure was elected - transfer "under police supervision", Hasanov told Turan.
Hasanov was brought to justice a year ago when he had a conflict with Jafar Jafarov, the head of the agency "Asiya", who is now on trial on charges of extortion. A lawyer Namazly told Turan that the investigation claims that Hasanov allegedly stabbed Jafarov with unidentified metal object. There are no witnesses in the case. The preliminary investigation completed, and the case will be sent to court. The lawyer believes that there is no ground for criminal prosecution of his client. Hasanov himself explained that he was attacked and injuried. Traces of violence were recorded in video in a report released by the radio "Azadlig". Hasanov said that later he and Jafarov mutually renounced claims. Hasanov believs that he is persecuted for his journalistic and opposition activities.
Hasanov is the deputy editor of the newspaper Sumgait "Yukselish Namine" ( "In the name of rebirth"), which is published only in the Internet version (yukselis.info). https://www.facebook.com/Elcin.Hasanov?fref=ts.
He is also a member of the Supreme Majlis of PFPA and deputy head of the NGO "Legal Education of Sumgait Youth". Hasanov believes that unexpected transfer his from the status of a victim to the accused is due to recent publication in Facebbok an information on the sale of canned meat for the soldiers, the sale of which is prohibited in the trade network.
The journalist considers wrongful his prosecution, especially by the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime because the incriminated Article is not applied to serious crimes and organized crime. -06B-
