The Prosecutor General's Office clarified the number of victims in a nightclub
Baku/04.03.22/Turan: The General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan has launched a criminal case on the fact of an explosion and fire in a nightclub in Baku. The investigation is under Articles 225.2 (violation of fire safety rules, resulting in the death of the victim or other grave consequences) and 314.2. (negligence, negligently resulting in the death of the victim or other grave consequences) of the Criminal Code, the press service of the department said on Sunday.
A joint investigation team has been set up, consisting of representatives of the prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The investigation was entrusted to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the explosion last night in the specified institution in the center of Baku occurred due to a leak from a gas cylinder.
As a result of the explosion, an employee of the nightclub Maya Akhundova, born in 1979, died. The number of victims was 37. At the same time, the condition of four is assessed as extremely serious.
14 cars, 1 apartment and 2 non-residential premises were also damaged.
According to TƏBİB (United Management of Territorial Medical Units), two foreigners were among the victims.
One of them, an Italian citizen, was admitted to the Republican Clinical Hospital with a diagnosis of damage to the face and jaw. His condition is stable.
A citizen of Senegal was hospitalized at the Narimanov Medical Center. He is in critical condition.
Azerigas PA stated that the nightclub was not a user from the centralized gas supply system.
At the same time, during the inspection of the incident at the facility, three cylinders with liquefied gas were identified and the cause of the explosion could be a leak from them.—06B-
