The prosecutor urged to jail the opposition activist to 6 years
On January 5 in the Baku Serious Crimes Court at the trial in the case of the activist of NIDA Movement Elgiz Gahraman accused of drug trafficking, a closing statement made the state prosecutor. He called to imprison the activist for 6 years in prison on charges of a large scale drug trafficking. In the materials of the lawsuit the only evidence that Gahraman was involved in drug trafficking is an operational information received by the Chief Department against Organized Crime. Even in the testimony obtained from Gahraman by torture he indicated that he "found" drugs and wanted to use "for personal use". During the trial, no evidence was presented. Gahraman and his lawyer said that the testimony from him were obtained under torture. The real reason for the arrest of Gahraman is an ironic post on Facebook, where he wrote that a comparison of Ilham Aliyev's son with Shah Ismail is funny. -06D--
