Emergency on SOCAR’s Offshore Platform
An accident happened on Platform No 41 in the offshore field Alat-Deniz at the Oil and Gas Extracting Department (OGED) named after Nariman Narimanov of the state oil company (SOCAR) on the evening of January 4. The bottom of a tank with diesel fuel collapsed.
No one was hurt. According to SOCAR, a temporary tank was installed as a result of the measures taken to ensure the platform's power supply.
The company also noted that the contents of the tank did not spill due to the measures taken.
This is the fourth emergency at SOCAR facilities in the past month.
On December 15 an overpass collapsed at the oil gathering station No 3 of the same OGED named after Narimanov, causing ten oil workers to fall into the sea. They could not be saved.
