The protest action of internally displaced persons
Baku / 25.12.17 / Turan: A group of IDPs blocked traffic on Javadhan street in front of the National Center of Ophthalmology on Monday. Protesters demanded better housing conditions. These are families of internally displaced people living in an unfinished multi-storey building on Babashev Street in the 9th microdistrict of Baku. The protesters claimed that they were not given apartments in new houses for IDPs, and housing was distributed for bribes.
So, according to the participants of the action Naila Shahverdiyeva, "a family of 5-6 people are offeredone-room apartments, and the president is reported that the IDPs are provided with housing."
Other participants of the action also expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the State Committee for Refugees, whose officials provide spacious apartments only to wealthy individuals. The protest lasted about an hour. Employees of Binagadi regional management of police and a fast reaction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrived to the scene. After the talks, the protesters opened the way. Negotiations continued with the representatives of the State Committee of Inquiry, who promised to take the necessary measures. They were not able to receive comments in the State Committee for Refugees. -05B-
