The son of a human rights activist sentenced to correctional labor
Khatai District Court on Thursday completed the trial in the case of Ali Gyulalyev - minor son of Oktay Gyulalyev, human rights activist. The court found him guilty under article 221.1 (hooliganism), and sentenced to 6 months hard labor with deduction of 15% of salary to the state. It is noteworthy that the guy is a full-time students and does not get paid, so it is not clear how the money will be charged. In addition, upon completion of the sentence, Ali Gyulalyev will be under the supervision of the police, and must not leave the country.
Commenting on the verdict, Oktay Gyulalyev said that he and his son did not agree with the verdict, they find it politically motivated and will appeal.
A.Gyulalyev is accused of participating in a fight September 20, 2013 at school N165, where he studied. Victims in this case are a student of the same school Sultanli Fitr, which in the end abandoned the complaint. The prosecutor asked the court to sentence the defendant to one year imprisonment.
A.Gyulalyev was beaten and injured by unknown three days later, but the case has not yet been investigated. At the announcement of the verdict was attended by representatives of the democratic public, as well as the EU, and the embassy of Germany.—06В-
