Baku / 27.01.18 / Turan: Two border guards and one member of the consular service of the Foreign Ministry were detained during a special operation of the State Security Service at the Baku International Airport. According to the Center for Public Relations of the State Security Service, in the course of comprehensive operational and technical activities jointly with the Border Guard Service, extortion facts were revealed when issuing visas for foreign citizens crossing the border of Azerbaijan. The officers of the secret services recorded the receipt of money exceeding the official payment for the visa.
During the special operation at the Baku airport on January 26, the third secretary of the visa department of the international airport of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Elton Khalili, was detained. He is charged with receiving a bribe when issuing a visa.
In addition, the SSS officers detained the employees of the border control department of the Border Service of the airport - Lieutenant-General Latif Zeynalov and ensign Zaur Gasimli. They are accused of taking bribes while carrying out the border control procedure. During the operational activities, foreign citizens testified against the accused. During the search, detainees found a lot of money in various foreign currency. Investigation is ongoing in the Chief Investigation Department of the State Security Service. -06D--
