The Supreme Court Dismisses Appeal from Parviz Hashimli
The Azerbaijani Supreme Court rejected an appeal from the journalist Parviz Hashimli to Baku Appeal Court’s decision dismissing a partial re-trial investigation of his case. Turan was told by the lawyer Elchin Sadigov.
* An employee of the paper Bizim Yol, Parviz Hashimli was arrested by DHS on September 17, 2013. On May 15 the Baku Court of Grave Crimes found him guilty of illegal purchase, possession and smuggling of arms and ammunition and sentenced him to 8 years of imprisonment.

Georgian law enforcement has detained an ethnic Azerbaijani in Marneuli who gained international attention through a viral video showing him stuffing a stack of ballots into a voting box, according to Shalva Papuashvili, a member of the political council of the "Georgian Dream" party and the parliament chair.
