The Supreme Court dismisses the appeal of Rustam Ibrahimbeyov
On December 5 the Azerbaijan's Supreme Court did not satisfy the appeal of Rustam Ibrahimbeyov, a screenwriter and co-founder of the Forum of Azerbaijani Intelligentsia.
The complaint was filed by the decisions of the lower courts, which rejected the claim of Ibrahimbeyov against the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR); SOCAR took from Ibrahimbeyova lands on which he planned to build a Cinema Home.
Ibrahimbeyov’s lawyer, Fuad Agayev, told Turan, that they will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights against the decision of the Azerbaijani courts.
According to observers, the deprivation of land is an attempt of the authorities to punish Ibrahimbeyov for criticizing the government’s policy.–05B06--
