The trial in the case of Thale Bagirzade is postponed to November 1

Trial in the case  of theologian Taleh Bagirzade, scheduled for today in Sabunchu district court, was postponed. The reason is that the lawyers of Bagirzade are busy on other trials. According to  the lawyer Cavad Cavadov,   Bagirzade’s relatives complained that the  trial wil be closed for  media, and his lawyers will not  attend  court room. 

Therefore, Bagirzade said that until the trial  is  not  open to the media, his lawyers will not attend the court session. The judge  postponed the hearing for November 1.

According to the site Azadxəbər.net, during the three believers were detained and taken away somewhere people in civilian clothes. However, they were soon released . The courthouse was placed under the protection of employees Rapid Response Regiment of the Interior Ministry and men in civilian clothes. 

On October 28 the police detained about 40 believers who came to support Bagirzade. At the same time , three of them were charged with resisting arrest and was arrested.

* Bagirzade was arrested on March 31 on charges of drug possession , along with his driver Anar Melikov. The latter subsequently was  sentenced to one year and seven months in prison on charges of illegal possession of weapons. However, the real reason  is a sharp criticism of the government  and Ilham Aliyev by Bagirzade. -16D-
