The U.S. ambassador meets with the students, who will travel to the USA
The U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Richard Morningstar, had a meeting with 31 Azerbaijani students who will study in different cities in America in the 2014-2015 academic year.
The meeting was held within the framework of FLEX (Future Leaders Exchange Program) at the U.S. Embassy in Baku.
The FLEX program is designed for students of 9-10-11grades of secondary school. Winners of the program have the opportunity to live in families and get training in American schools. The U.S. government will cover all costs. Winners are selected on a competitive basis. The current participants are winners of competition in September-October 2013 in different regions of Azerbaijan.
The Ambassador Morningstar noted that each of the winners during the year are given the opportunity, while living with an American family, personally acquainted with the country. "The advantage of this program is that on their return from America the Azerbaijani students will be able to tell their friends about what America really is.
At the same time the Americal students studying in Azerbaijan share their information about Azerbaijan at home. There is not another such a good program in terms of deepening mutual understanding between our two countries," he said. -03D04-
