They want to convict Khadija Ismailova for want she has not done
The Binagadi District Court Baku today continued the lawsuit filed by former opposition Elman Turkoglu against a journalist Khadija Ismayilova. Two petitions for the prosecution were considered. The plaintiff's lawyer presented documents from the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes Prosecutor General's Office, in particular, the testimony by Ismaylova at the interrogation in February and March 2014 in the criminal case "of the distribution of state secrets"; as well as references about residence of Ismaylova, about her mental health, as well as a reference from the Sheki District Prosecutor's Office that Turkoglu in 1992 did not commit any crime.
Turkoglu accused Ismayila of spreading a document against him, which states that Turkoglu was recruited by the National Security Ministry, and that in 1992 he committed a rape.
Ismailova also said that she did not spread the second document at all, and in the first document she crossed out all the data allowing to determine the identity of the person in question.
Ismailova demanded from the plaintiff to prove that she distributed a document which mentions Turkoglu. She said that while the plaintiff fails to submit such evidence, she will not respond.
A lawyer Elton Guliyev pointed to the failure of the prosecution motion. In particular,
he noted that the statement "spread, and then erased" is not supported by any documents. However, the judge granted the request, and attache them to the case.
The next hearing is scheduled for 5 December.
The publications on the topics of recruitment of Turkoglu by security services appeared in 2011 on behalf of the Facebook user named Mustafa Gozlu.-1606D—
