Twenty-seven People Detained during Special Operation Border-Barrier
Integrated operational-search activities under the name of Border-Barrier were held in the border regions of Azerbaijan with Russia on November 21-27.
According to the Interior Ministry press service, the joint operations were carried out on the basis of the agreements reached between the heads of the Interior Ministries of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation.
The main objective of the operations during the week was defusing members of transnational criminal groups and terrorist organizations, the suppression of the finance revenue channels for the illicit trafficking of arms and drugs.
The operations were held in Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Balakan, Zagatala, Gakh, Sheki, Oguz and Gabala, where 27 people from the wanted list were detained. Eighteen of them were wanted by the Russian side.
At the same time, the law enforcers seized five rifles, eight pistols, 67 rifled and smooth-bore guns, 30 hand grenades, 38 boxes with cartridges, 30 units of military equipment and ammunition, 1 shell and 8,611 cartridges of various calibers.
In addition, five cases of drug-related turnover were revealed. More than 1 kg of drugs was seized. -16D06-
