Two Turkish citizens were killed in a fire in Shamkir
Two people were killed and three injured in a fire last night in the workers' hostel in Shamkir.
According to a joint statement by the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a fire occurred on January 31 around 01.00 in the dormitory building of Chinghiz Building Company implementing the project for the construction of the reservoir on the river Shamkirchay.
As a result, about 300 square meters burned, killing two Turkish workers - Engin Yasar and Aladdin Ozden.
Three other Turks - Murat Altun, Nasib Kechkin and Levent Shurul were hospitalized with burns at Hospital N 5 in Baku. Their condition is assessed as moderate and they are given the necessary assistance.
Ongoing investigations are to ascertain the cause of the fire. A criminal case has been filed under article 225.2 (violation of fire safety rules) of the Criminal Code, and the appropriate expertise has been assigned. -16D06
