Union for Freedom of Political Prisoners Unveils New List of Political Prisoners of 107 People
Baku / 07/10/19 / Turan: The Union for the Freedom of Political Prisoners of Azerbaijan today unveiled an updated list of individuals prosecuted for political reasons. In the list of 107 people there are 8 groups.
In the group of "journalists and bloggers" there are 7 people. The new persons on this list are the editor of the website realliq.info Ikram Rahimov and the head of the website xeberman.com Polad Aslanov.
In the "human rights activists" group there remains 1 person - Aliabbas Rustamov.
The list of "members of opposition parties and movements" includes 7 people.
In the category of "victims of crimes in the MNS" there are 3 people convicted in the case of Said Dadashbeyli.
The group of "political hostages" includes Emin Sagiyev, who was arrested because of the opposition journalistic activities of his sister"s husband Turkel Azerturk, who lives abroad.
The largest number of people is in the "believers" group - 56. Here the largest group is those arrested in connection with the Nardaran events - 46 people. In the same group, there are the leader of the Islamic Party Movsum Samedov and the theologian Abgul Suleymanov.
The list also includes 18 convicts on the Ganja events and 14 people from the "life prisoners" group.
* The Union was created at the end of 2018 by Leila Yunus, Director of the Institute for Peace and Democracy, Elshan Hasanov, head of the Center for Monitoring Political Prisoners, human rights activist Hilal Mammadov, and Chairman of the Council of Intellectuals of Azerbaijan Eldaniz Guliyev. -06D--
