Baku/23.02.23/Turan: The interim decision of the UN Supreme Court, obliging Azerbaijan, “stop the blockade” of the Lachin road, the refusal of the same court to accept the arguments of Baku that the Armenians use the road for  transporting mines and weapons caused indignation and discussion of Azerbaijanis.

Political scientist Arastun Orujlu, who lives abroad, expressed concern, indicating a coincidence, or the connection between the decision in the Hague and the arrest of the Azerbaijani vessel transporting Russian oil in Albania. He sees in these events alarming signs of a conspiracy against Azerbaijan. The Armenian political scientists demanded the imposition of sanctions against Azerbaijan for the "blockade of the only road in Karabakh."

Public activist Tofik Yagublu recalled his many warnings that the action of ecologists on the Lachin road is the performance of Putin’s will to disrupt the Brussels-Washingononian efforts to normalize relations between Baku and Yerevan. "Ilham Aliyev does everything to make the accusation of aggression from Armenia and laid it on Azerbaijan," T. Yagublu wrote.

Sahab Mammadov, Chairman of the Labor Protection League, urged not to worry about the decision in the Hague, since the document says about the obligation of the Azerbaijani government to ensure the free movement of people and goods.

“There is nothing wrong with Azerbaijan. It would be bad if we were obliged to skip drugs, non-ferrous metals from mines and weapons,” said S. Mamedov.

Political scientist Farhad Mammadov sees in what is happening, including Yerevan’s refusal from the proposal of Baku on the installation of a checkpoint on the Lachin and Zangezur roads, the activation of Pashinyan’s participation in the affairs of the Karabakh Armenians.

"After the decision of the UN International Court and its interpretation by the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the  change in Pashinyan’s position in relation to Ruben Vardanyan is possible. The head of the separatists in Karabakh Araik Harutyunyan insists on the continuation of the duties of the State Administration by Vardanyan. We will observe where the unpredictable policy of Pashinyan will take Armenia," said F. Mammadov.

He recalled that the Azerbaijani military operation "Retribution" was the result of a statement by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Grigoryan that  Azerbaijan’s proposal for  Armenia to leave Lachin is illegitimate. "What happened in the end everyone knows ...".

Reader Kamal Sultanov proposed using the decision of the UN International Court, by  announcing the opening  the checkpoint in Lachin with a special status, which including  free passage of humanitarian goods in both directcions (freely - without the requirement of documentation, only after physical verification  that the goods are non-military, as well as by ensuring free passing through this checkpoint,  for citizens permanently residing in Karabakh.

"At the same time, Azerbaijan should state clearly that goods of military nature will not pass through the checkpoint, all the goods passing across the border will  must be checked, and the export of minerals from the Azerbaijan will not be allowed. It is necssary to ensure a wide informational support for this decision".

Baku will continue to demand  bringing Yerevan to responsibility for violations of human rights, said Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, commenting on the decision of the United Nations International Court. "The court decision not to revise its previous conclusion that the placement of mines by Armenia does not meet the requirements for taking temporary measures.  Azerbaijan will continue to demand  the prosecution of Armenia," Mammadov wrote on Wednesday on Twitter.

The representative of the Azerbaijan continued that in his decision, the court took note of Baku's idea that Azerbaijan "will take all measures available at its disposal to ensure safe movement along the Lachin road in accordance with a tripartite statement of November 10, 2020."

"Armenia is still obliged to refrain from escalating the situation in accordance with the previous court order of December 7, 2021," added Deputy Minister E. Mammadov. -0-
