Visa Procedures Simplified for Participants of World Chess Olympiad in Baku
Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on simplification of visa procedures for foreigners and stateless persons entering the country in connection with the organization and holding of the World Chess Olympiad in Baku.
For example, a person entering the country for these purposes will be able to get a visa from the structural units of the Foreign Ministry Consular Department, located at the international airports of Azerbaijan.
The basis for the issuance of a visa is one of the following documents - an official letter of invitation from the Operating Committee of the Baku Chess Olympiad; a document confirming the accreditation in accordance with the relevant rules of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
Persons who have one of these documents may apply for a visa from 20 August to 20 September 2016.
The World Chess Olympiad is to be held in Baku on September 1-14. The tournament will be attended by about 2,000 players from 175 countries around the world. In total, around 3,000 guests will arrive in Baku. -06D—
