In regions of the country intensive precipitation is expected in the mountains of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus. In the highlands precipitation will be in the form of snow. In the foothill areas, the air temperature will be + 11 + 16 degrees during the day and + 6 + 9 at night.
Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in the southern region of the country, where the maximum temperature in the daytime will be +20 degrees.

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
