Animals Lack Forage and Feed, Where Will the Meat and Milk Come From?!

According to the State Statistical Committee, in 2024, Azerbaijan produced 1,685.7 thousand tons of wheat. The Committee also noted that last year, the productivity of wheat was 30.9 quintals.

According to the report published recently by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the FAO Food Price Index for 2024 is 2.1 percent lower than the 2023 figure and 20.7 percent below the peak recorded in March 2022.

2024: Persistent Challenges in Azerbaijan's Agriculture

In the ongoing year of 2024, Azerbaijan has imported more food products at a record level. Specifically, compared to the same period of the previous year, food imports in the first eleven months of 2024 increased by 10.8%. According to information provided by the State Customs Committee, our calculations showed that in the first eleven months of this year, food products worth 2,192,644,000 dollars were imported into the country, which is 213.9 million dollars more compared to the analogous period of the previous year (1,978,667,000 dollars).
